Fail, or is it?

Okay so I finished knitting the garter stitch hat I mentioned last time with the orange/ red/ yellow/ pink yarn.  And I'm not sure if it technically counts as a real FAIL, I mean it does look like a hat.  But here's the issue (okay lets be honest, ISSUES).  It's still kinda cute, and it does look like it's supposed to...... but....

1.  It's really not as cute as I expected it to be.
2.  It's a little on the big side  (my fault I'm sure, I used 6 mm needles instead of 5.5 mm needles, because I didn't have them.  But technically my gauge was correct.... I checked it AFTER I started, don't get excited)
3.  The ear flaps are so NOT proportionate.
4.  The seam is visible, even though I used double pointed needles.  Poor pattern planning?   I think yes.
5.  It's actually a lot better if I just turn it inside out.
6.  I just don't really like it.  (Please refer to #1.)

Okay, so CLEARLY, the problem is I just don't really like it, so should it be classified officially in the fail category?  Most of the time I can classify my failures due to bad patterns or alterations I made, but this time I'm not sure....  Muriel seems to like it, so I guess it's not all bad!

  1. This is honestly the main reason I have an Etsy shop. It's a hat, that's for sure. If you don't like it, get rid of it.
