Well I've changed plans again, I have decided that I'm not making that monster doll that I don't really have a pattern for just yet.... I'm completely unmotivated (is that a real thing?) Toys always dishearten me... they seem really exciting to begin with but really... I hate knitting them. Maybe it's because most of my "toys" are super epic failures, there's the 3 legged sheep, the pink pig/horse/mutant, (I'm sure a few of you could think of a few things) I have an octopus that I started knitting for Muriel when she was born, I put some crinkly stuff inside so it'd be fun to play with and you know what has become of it? Nothing. It's a crinkly orange lump with one leg and it's been what like 2 years now?! I can't stand making toys after the initial pattern search for some reason, it really feels like work and you know how I hate work. You know, not actual work, just knitting work. It's one of the reasons I don't knit for others, as we've discussed in the past.
The last 2 weeks at knitting club I've made a baby cocoon with a matching hat, and I still have not bothered to look for the yarn to finish my (I mean Muriel's) pants. Somehow, I'm just feeling completely uninspired. How is that even possible with all the great things to knit with fall just around the corner? I love, LOVE, LOVE fall, it's totally "my season" I love the clothes, the smells, the weather, crab apple juice making, pickled carrots, the way the sun goes down kinda early, but not early enough that you feel old, there's soup, stew and FUCKING Halloween!!!! GOOD GRAVY!!! I SHOULD feel like knitting! Hats, fingerless gloves, light scarves, rad leg warmers, maybe a super nerdy vest for my poor, poor child, who will without a doubt be ridiculed mercilessly by her peers as she gets older and I get progressively nerdier .... You know what? I really want to knit M-Bomb a vest.... okay, thanks for all your help!
Tune in next week! Same bat time, Same bat channel!
Hi lady! I just saw you posted your blog on facebook, I had no idea you blogged. I must admit, I just read through all of your posts and you had me laughing to myself here in the office.
ReplyDeleteWhen I get uninspired like this, I change crafts. Which is probably why I have so many unfinished projects and so much unused supplies. Ok, so maybe that's not a good suggestion after all.
ReplyDeleteIf there's ever an animal or toy you'd really like, let me know and I can see about crocheting it... That is, if you're not too high up on your knitter pedestal to own something crocheted by a dirty hooker.
See you tonight! :)
I was looking at another blog I just started following and came across this knitting site, the name made me laugh, the Inner Hooker hehe. There are some cute patterns on there thought I'd mention it http://innerhooker.bigcartel.com/
